Brazilian Butt Lift: Recovery Process & Tips!

How long will results from a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) last?

Enduring results from a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) become apparent after the recovery period which is approximately 6 full months. During this time, some of the fat cells are resorbed by the body, and a new blood supply must form to supply the healthiest transferred fat cells. After this process is complete, the Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) results are mostly permanent.

The size and shape of your buttocks or hips will change if you gain or lose weight. If you gain weight, your buttocks will become larger because the fat cells in that part of the body will get bigger. If you lose weight, your buttocks will get smaller because the fat cell volume will decrease.

Fat cells that are removed from the abdomen with liposuction surgery and transferred to the buttocks or hips behave as they did before the transfer.  To increase the odds that your results will be long-lasting, Dr. Miles recommends patients maintain a healthy weight after surgery.

When are my results visible?

Results will be visible immediately following surgery. Throughout the recovery process, your buttocks or hips will expand and contract in size which is normal and to be expected as the body heals.  Patients should closely follow Dr. Miles’ recommendations precisely for their post-care.

How long will I be in pain/discomfort?

Immediately following BBL surgery many patients will experience a moderate level of pain and tenderness in the areas where fat was removed via liposuction. The severity of pain you experience depends upon your tolerance for pain. Bruising and swelling around the injection sites along the buttocks or hips is also common. Most pain can be managed through over-the-counter or prescription medication provided by Dr. Miles. Most patients will find that their pain dramatically subsides within the first few days post-op.

When can I return to work after a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL)?

Patients should plan to be out of work for at least 3-5 days following a Brazilian Butt Lift procedure.

When can I resume my activities?

Immediately following BBL surgery, high impact, strenuous activities should be avoided. After the first week of recovery, light activities such as fast-paced walking can be performed.

Once the fat cells are fully established, the patient can resume more rigorous activities such as jogging or running. It is important to listen to all of Tampa Bay Body Sculpting's post-operative instructions to ensure optimal outcomes from this procedure.
